Representation

The Local, or Local Executive, should be the first and primary point of contact for most union related requests. Locals are organized to represent the union’s members from a particular geographic area or employer organization. If the Local is unable to resolve an issue or if it is of a National nature, it should be escalated to the National Office for review.

The UPCE will continue to represent our membership in front of the employers, both Canada Post and Purolator, to ensure that our collective agreements are respected. The National Office will support its Local Executives and the broad membership in terms of education, resources, and assistance. The UPCE will send Newsletters and consultations updates to our members through the Local Executives.

If an issue is unresolved after speaking with the employer, a grievance should be filed. It is recommended that the National Labour Relations Officer be contacted for support before the Local officially files a grievance.  All grievances, including all supporting documentation, should be sent to the National Grievance Officer after filing.
